My assignment for this paper was to watch the movie Rock Star and compare it to the group in the movie named Steel Dragon to the real life group Judas Priest. My group and I stayed in constant contact with each other through e-mail and during class to make sure we each new what the other was doing. What I did to help with my part of the paper was to research the internet about the group Judas Priest. I read the information I got from the internet and compared that to how the movie portrayed the group back then when they had the departing of a group members and the confrontation that involved the group overall.

I took what I read from the internet and what I saw from the two and put them together to help my group come with a paper. I had to come compare the two group and give the reason what made them different from what the movie portrayed.

The points that were brought up in seminar was that everyone had their own opinion about how the songs had there own identity. I liked how each song had a specific style to it and everyone seemed to pull those things out in the seminar setting. I learn a lot about how to identify certain thing that are being talked about in a song.

Addition blog 5

This semester I took Professor Nicole Hancock because I had as my writing teacher before. I can honestly say I like her way of trying to get us how to understand how writiing really suppose to be. I still make a lot of mistakes on my papers but it not because I'm not getting what she is saying it is just that I have a difficult expression on paper and gather thoughts to put in my papers. I can say that it has gotten better and that I will continue this processing as long as I have to until it is great.

4th paper comments

In the movie the Rock Star At first I was a bit confused about who the band was until I went and looked them up on the internet and read about them. I found them to be a very interesting group. I did appreicaite some of their music. I also understood what the purpose of the movie was about.

Now me and my group or going to put together a paper on how we felt about the grouping the movie and compare to the real Judas Priest.

I never liked writing but I can say the teachers I have had has changed that. They have taught me that if you have things to say then its best to write them down and give good examples of how it makes you feel or exactly how things happened. In writing papers there is a lot of techniques with it and you have listen to what the teacher is telling you to do so you can write good papers with less mistakes and information.

1-2. Kids are just different in so many ways because the are so different in how they act and do things. I guess that's the reason boys and girls are so different boys on the other hand are agressive, stubborn and just have a hard time at learning things. Girls on the other hand just do want they need to do so that they can be sucessful. They have a way of just wanted to be successful. I am raising both genders and I honest see how the statics came up with their theories.



3. I think that having both parents in the house is good sometime because you have to people who are concern about what the kids are and must do to be successful. Being a single is hard because you have to be both parents and that can be a lot of stress on that one person.



4. Some of the single dads I know are doing a good a though it is hard for them they seem to manage pretty well.

When we have peer review in class I like to ask my classmates to give me as much help as they can so that I can make my paper have lets of good details and how to make the paper flow really well. Make sure I have enough details in the paper to state my point and to give them an ideal of the paper

How I prepare for a paper that I'm writing additional blog 3

When I am preparing to write a paper I do all the things, I think about my topic, write things down on paper like the ideas that comes to mine about the topic. I then try to put all of those ideas to from a paper. A lot of the my paper come from my personal experience but if you know the topic on a paper the more your paper would be a good paper. I never realize how much can go into a paper if you just write about things that you know about or things that you have down a lot of research on. The more details in a paper that you the more it has a voice and the reader understand what the point of the paper is all about.

My Seminar
The article had me confused at some points and in other points I agreed. I did not understand the Bob Marley one at all even after reading it several times. I guess in ever heard the song how was this song so uninterrupted I do not know. The mean I did get was political but still confusing. I think he was talking about the Jamaican community and how it is. This was after I read the lyrics of the song.
I did not like how they bashed Elvis either, even though I’m not a fan I feel has is he made some good music rather he was a racist are not. What made him stand from any of the other artist that you call want-a-be’s?
In the song, “Johny Hit and Run Pauline.” I can see how the song is misinterpreted it is suppose t be a anti-rape song but truthfully it sound like he is raping her or has raped her and is bragging about it but the audience lone hear the beat off the song to make them like it.
I was honestly confused with the article at first but after reading it I can see why they feel that you should listener more to a song first by knowing the lyric of the song first and hopefully the song has a good melody to it. Some artist that you love can make songs that you would not like are would like simply because you love the artist.
I personally agree that music of many different genres is listener to and perceived in many different ways. When I listened to music I like the words that are being said and also the melody of the song. Most of the songs relate to what I have going on in my life at the time. Many artists make songs that come from something that involves their life or the society as a whole.

In writing class you are suppose to be able to write a paper with a lot of details and be able to put things in order as they happen and to have a mean to the paper in general. Your paper should always have a intro, details and a conclusion. You should also know how to structure your paper in the college form a not the way you were taught in high school. Writing class is supposed to help you to be able to write a paper that is well put together.

Kingswell Essay

My opinion on this essay was pretty close to the point. I thought that it was a little vague though because all it talked was how you can make if you try to be like other people. Me personally I don't feel like I should trying to be like other people and imaging yourself after other is surely not the way to be. I don't really want to one of those modern media icon because I would not like to be a role model for anyone.

I did a paper on “Raising boys vs. Girls and I wrote a lot about my personal experience because they both are different in gender and the way they feel both emotional and physically. I explain how each one of my kinds is different in way the deal with their peers and with society. My kids don’t follow the status quo like the other does. I even look up some cites that would help me to support what I was trying to established to my readers.

I got a lot of feedback from the sites I went to and also from my peer reviewer. I tried to make the voices of my paper sound like a person who is experiment the difference of different gender children and I also tried to make it flow in the correct way so it want sound so bland. I tried to also state how each kid is different without the paper being boring.

Overall I tried to stay focus on my topic and tried not to have so many punctuation errors and not to run all over the place with my ideals.

As I was writing my paper I thought about what people would like to know. So I wrote about things that I thought were important to me and would be good to my readers. I tried to put as much details and content that I could in my paper. I tried to put qutoes whwere they needed to be and all of the other punctuation that I needed and when it was time for peer review I asked for the reviewer to give me help to make my paper sound good and to flow properly.

I took my peer reviewers Advice and did the revisions that I needed for my paper. I did not choose any specific style I just wrote what was in my heart and what I was feeling and thinking about at the time. My whole messages to my paper is to never give up on yourself no matter what you go through because you always have other options. I can say that I owe a lot of what I wrote in my paper to my grandmother she agve me a lot of encouragement.

I basically tried to stay focus on my subject and not run all over the place.

gender argument prewriting

I feel that raising boys vs girls are pretty hard because you are dealing with two different types of people. Many missed feeling and emotions. With boys you have to be considerate on the fact that the are going to rough,tough, stubborn and hot headed. Boys have the tendency to want to be the man of the house if there is not a father figure around. They are sometime neater than girsl and it really do not take a lot to please them either. With girl you have a lot of emotions that comes along with them and a lot of those center around them trying to fit in with girls of their peer group that take a lot of TLC because they are sterotype to look and be a certain way. Girls have the tendency to always want the affection of other.

He tell who Merle Haggard was and where he came from by telling us that he was an outsider and a ex-con and that all the songs he sung were about booze and prison.

What I learned from conference?

I learn the following things from conference and that is what I need in my paper to make it flow and sound good to my readers. I also learned that I can add as much detail to my paper that I want as long as it flow with the rest of the paper. I also found out where I am in the class and what I need to do to get to the top of the class.

I would like to know from the professor is this. If my writing is on the right track. What things do I need to do with this paper or at this point to make the other paper I have to do seem more understandable and with less mistakes.

Freewriting: Identity Audience

Who Is my reader?
My reader is adults round my age and women that are in my shoes. Who are doing things on there own.

What do they already know?
They don't know to much if you are not one who like to share things. Are they problem know more about the topics than you do alredy.

What do they need to know?
The things they have to know are things that make you who you are and the things that make you different in a unique way.

What will get my audience interested/intrigued?
I think that the most that would interest them is how I relate to things and how is that I can understand what it is that make feel the way I do about certain subjects.

The outline of my paper would include a intro on what identity is to me and how i feel about it. How do we get our own identity where exactly does it comes from. Then I would give example of what I feel and the things I learned that has got me to where i am now in life. Those things would be past experiences I have had with life and etc.

Working Thesis

I think that your parents kind of shape your identity of you. Because they help you to be the person you turn out to be as and adult.

Peer Review

What has your previous experience been with peer review? What would you like from peer review on Friday?

My experience has been to get back as much ideals and inforamtion from your peers as you can that way the paper you are writing is great. And write down comments and take notes on what is being said. lots of information that would help me with the paper I'm writing.

What to expect from the seminar

I expected that we will talk about what the article was about and our person points of view of the article. What parts of the article we found interesting or things that stand out. I am doing my part by reading the article and write down things that stood out to me.

Meaning Of Music

We can explain music in many different ways. By what the song or tunes means to you. Some of the music I listen to I realate really well to because I have personal experience with. With other music I simply like the artist because they explain the words in many different ways. So that you understand what they are singing about. Sometime it is the beat of the music that get me interested in the music cause if a song has a good beat or melody to the song it is a good song.

By thinking about a topic and writing it down. Then jot down ideals that I have or know about the topic.

When Im sitting along or while Im sleping.

Im am normally alone and it is quite every onw and then I have my IPOD on.

Paper and a pencil. I can write down a thought I have had and refer back to it later.

Peers and instructor. Alot because I want them to like the paper and it's content.

My own take and the internet.

I work in sections.

Several. I pay close focus on the things that was pointed out to me.

Stop for a bit then pick it backup as I sit and think about.

Brainstormimg, prewrting, and know more about the topic.

When to stop a sentence and start a new, my puncuations and the flow of my paper. Get help from a friend or instructor to make sure things are alright.

12. What is your favorite part of your writing process- and why?
The final paper after all the revising is finished and I can hand it in.

Top Ten LIst

"Love" by Musiq Soulchild.
When I hear specific song I get a little emotional. Simply because the words speak and touch me mentally. I listen to the words and he is talking about how people the the word "Love" for granted. That it is a word that people really do not understand.

"Me Time" by Heather Hedley.
This songs says it all. It is basically talking about her as a mom and a as wife spending time to herself. Doing the things that she likes to donot that she does not love her life. She wants to do things that make her happy. Those things even includes a day at he spa or just hanging out with the girls.

This song is from the "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack. This song touches my heart deeply. The reasoning behind that is this, here is a successful black man in the top of his career and he cheats on is wife of 11 years. With a woman he works with after his wife was the one who helped him get to where he is in his career. He leaves her brokenhearted, but in the long run he has to pay her for the lifesytle she has established.

"Truth Is" by Fantasia
This song explains her running into and old flame one day. They have lunch he is telling her all about his new woman and the new life he has. Then she realized that she still love him and now she regret that he is not in her life anymore.

Shirley Brown is a woman that makes me proud she was proud. She was from East St. Louis lived in the projects. Did everything she could to take care of her family. Until one day she got her big break and became a superstar blues singer. In her song "Woman to Woman" she is letting the woman know that the man she love is hers and everything that he has is hers because of her.

Teddy Riley is the best singer, producer and writing of all time he has coutless hits after hits. He belonged to the guy groups Guy and Blackstreet. He even produced forrmer member of Guy Aaron Hall first ablum which put him at the top of the charts. The style that he uses is uniand he does it well.

Mariah Carey has the voice of angles. She has become the best female artist of all time also. She has made hit after is why she made history by tying Elvis Presley with the most number one hits in music history. All of her songs speak from the heart.

Babyface is also an excellent singer and songwriter. This man has made Platinum hit after hit. He has written a lot songs for many other artists. He has made songs that spoke on love and commitment. One of my favorite song by the artists is "Whip Appeal" this is my jam.

T-Pain is a newcomer in the world of Hip-Hop he has done numerous collaboration tracks with artist like Chris Brown, Plies, Lil-Wayne. With him on their tracks it mad the songreally HOT. I hope he keeps up the good work.

Marvin Gaye was a music icon in the 60's he made a song called "What's Going On" I really like this one I like how the words just jump out the song at me and make me think about a lot of things that are really going on.

Style of Music

What is your favorite genre/style of music? Why do you like it more than others?

My favorite type of music is R&B Soul. This is my favorite because I like the wording that the artist put in their songs. Many of them sing songs that are from the heart or about a life experience that they have been through. So to me that means that they have a lot to say. The style of melody they use with the music is unique to because it is not loud and annoying.
